Our Know How : Guaranteed solutions

Water is a utility of primary importance for all sectors of industry

Water plays a major role at every stage in the industrial process, whether it is for drinking water, boiler water, process water, cooling water, wash water, water for fire fighting, or treatment of effluent.

This resource alone can account for 15% of investments.

Seureca has the required expertise and moreover can rely on Veolia Water's resources in order to provide studies and solutions that come with a guarantee from the world leader in water treatment services and technology.

This means industrial customers are then able to concentrate on their main business activities.

1. Egypt - Study of the industrial pollution and pre-treatment facilities for West Alexandria industrial zone

Seureca prepared a study of the industrial pollution and pre-treatment facilities for the West Alexandria industrial zone (about 100 industrial units : petrochemistry, metallurgy, food processing, tanneries, textile...), which included:

  • inventory and classification of industries
  • industrial survey and elaboration of a data base
  • detailed investigations at selected representative sites. Definition of measurement, sampling and analysis programmes
  • flow measurements, waste water sampling and analysis
  • preliminary design of pre-treatment units for selected sites representative of the types of pollution encountered
  • training of AGOSD staff on the industrial pollution monitoring on the data base use, and on the design and operation of pre-treatment units
  • institutional aspects: setting up of a pollution tax system, including monitoring and recovery procedures.

2. Kazakhstan - Feasibility study for the project : "Rehabilitation of the Astrakhan-Manguischlak pipeline and of the Ural water pipes"

KazTransOil (KTO) operates about 6,300 km of oil pipes and more than 2,400 km of water pipes including the Astrakhan-Manguichlak's, which with 1,400 km is one of the longest in the world.

This system was non cost effective and required heavy investments to address the rapid growth of the water demand in the Caspian area.

KTO, in association with Veolia Water Water, decided to study the possibilities to restore the economical balance of this system and to develop solutions that would meet the growth of the water demand.

Seureca implemented the first phase of the feasibility study (Phase 1A) including:

  • Study of the major industrial customers (oil) to establish the level of services required
  • Audit of the major municipal customers to establish ways of upgrading their solvency and to appraise their futur needs for water demand
  • Technical audit of the water production and transportation equipments of KazTransOil, and study of the required rehabilitation works
  • Analysis of the present operation methods

3. Thailand - Gusco Master Plan

Seureca assessed, on behalf of Veolia Water and as part of its operation contract related to the water supply, sanitation, drainage and road systems of eight industrial sites, the investments needed to refurbish the existing facilities.

The study included the analysis of the alternatives meant to improve the efficiency of the treatment plants and the in-depth study of the rehabilitation of two wastewater treatment plants and of one potable water production plant.

Seureca prepared pilot studies concerning the implementation of maintenance management systems, GIS and SCADA.
